It will be an exciting thing if your website has an image slider with high quality images.
Simply try the things given below:

1. Download any image slider extension in Joomla(zip file).

2. Here I have used “Slider Gallery Extension” and the download link is provided below:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-a-images/images-slideshow/12137

3. Navigate to Extensions -> Install/Uninstall. Select the zip file which you have downloaded and Install it.

4. Also Enable the module in Extensions -> Module Manager.

5. If you select and edit the Slider Gallery Module and change the Position as your need, the images will be shown in the appropriate area of the webpage which gives a nice look and feel.

6. Save the changes, goto the Front end and see the changes.

You have done it !

If you want to add a calender in Joomla website, it’s very simple.
Lets try the following steps
1. In the Joomla backend, goto Extensions -> Install/Uninstall
2. In the Upload package file section, select the calender package which you need to install. Give Upload file & Install
The link for the sample calender which I have used here is given below:

3. Head to Extensions -> Module Manager. Enable the new module which you have just installed.
4. Go to Front End and you can see a calender in the webpage.

You can also download and add more exciting calenders to your website.

In Joomla, you can create a new Poll. You can follow the steps below to create a new poll.

1. In the backend panel of Joomla, goto Components -> Polls
2. Let us create a new poll by clicking the New icon in the right corner.
3. Give appropriate names for Title, Alias. Also enable Published to Yes
4. In the right side, there will be a option window where you can give appropriate functions and Click “Save”.
Here I have created a poll to select a favourite color.

5. Go to Extensions -> Module Manager. If Polls module is disabled, Enable it.
6. Then click on the Polls module and in the right block, select the poll name which you created in Module Parameters -> Poll

7. Save changes, go to Front end and you will see the Poll which you have created.

If your website doesn’t need any Login Form, you can simply hide it in Joomla.

Try the following steps:

  • Goto backend, Click on “Extensions” -> “Module Manager”.
  • Spot the “Login form” module, Select it and click to disable.

Go to the Front end and see the changes.

In addition to this Login Module, you will also see modules like Main Menu, Footer, Resources, Polls etc that you can disable in this same way

The banners shown in the bottom of Joomla! can be removed.

You can follow any one of the method given below.

Method 1:

1. In the backend, goto Extensions -> Module Manager
2. Find the “Banners” module and disable it.

Go to front and refresh the page. You can see the changes.

Method 2:

1. In the backend, goto Components -> Banner
2. In the Banner Module Manager, Unpublish “Joomla! Promo Shop” and “Joomla! Pro Books”

Go to front and refresh the page. You can see the changes.

If you enable cache in Joomla, the performance of the website can be improved.

You can acheive this by simply doing the following steps:

1. In Joomla! administrator panel goto Site -> Global Configuration -> System
2. In the right panel you will see the “Cache Settings” tab: select “Yes” for cache and Save the changes.

Note:

You can also change the “Cache Time” according to your website content. If your website holds large amount of data you can adjust the Cache Time to get high performance.

By default, the Joomla footer contains License and Copyright Information.
If you don’t want to show those information, follow the steps given below:

1. Edit the file /joomla/language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_footer.ini
2. Remove the text that appears after equals sign (=) in FOOTER_LINE1 and FOOTER_LINE2 and Save the file.

It looks like this

FOOTER_LINE1=
FOOTER_LINE2=

Go to Front End and see the changes !

In Joomla, you can restrict access (by user level) to individual articles for registered users only.

1. Go to  Joomla back end as admin, select Content >Article Manager.
2. Select any article and go to Edit mode.

3. From the ParametersAccess Level, select an access level.
- Select Registered to restrict the Joomla menu item Registered Users
- Select Special to restrict the Joomla menu item to all User Groups

4. Save, Go to front end and see the change.

Note: You must provide a way for users to register, or you can register the users yourself from the Joomla administration menu in order to view the article.

You can simply try the folowing steps to acheive this!

1. Go to backend as admin. Select “Menus” -> “Menu Manager”.
2. Choose the menu and click on the “Menu item” column.
3. In the “Menu Item Manager” select the one that you want to hide and “unpublish” the item.
Go to front end and you will see that the menu item won’t be available.

Try the following steps:

1. Go to backend as admin. Select “Extensions” -> “Module Manager”.
2. Edit the menu  (main menu, resources, key concepts, etc)
3. In the new window change “Show title” option to “NO”.
Go to front end and see the changes.
