Setting up a Multiple Currency for your Magento Shop is very easy to do. These are the basic steps to do that.
Login as admin and select System->Configuration, then select ’Currency Setup’ fromGENERAL section, then select Base currency, Default display currency, allowed currencies (press Control Key and Click the needed currencies) and ’Save Config’

Also choose the Automated Currency Transaction update and make the configurations

Now come to “System->Manage Currencies’ menu

Bingo!…. You are done.
Visit the frontend and reload (you may need to refresh your cache) to see the drop down added to your product pages.

i selected Default display currency to indian ruprees and now it is showing Rp 500 in front end
i want to show this to Rs 550 in front end

I donno if you ever got a answer to modifying the magento currency symbol: I wrote about it in my tiny blog a few months back after facing a similar problem : http://munyah.com/magento/changing-the-currency-symbol-in-magento/
hope it helps,

This does not create a multi currency store, it enables a ‘currency converter’ that simply recalculates prices using a FX multiplier.
No ecommerce pro would recommend enabling a store with this feature because Magento can only processes the default currency at checkout. 90% of your shoppers will abandon if you switch currencies at checkout.
To enable multi-currency properly, you need to enable 2 websites, each with their own default currency.
The product pages don’t show the currencies. Only the category pages do.
