Purpose
It is possible to change the date format, time format, calendardisplayed in the taskbar of your MAC desktop. Also you can change first day of the week, your region (country), currency, number format, Measurement units.

How To Do

Goto SystemPreferences -> Languages & Text -> Formats

    Whenever I type a large number, say 8 digits, the Excel table displays it as

    #,##,##,###

    How do get the display to show in the format

    ##,###,###

    I tried to change it going through the “System Preferences, but it does not work.

    You are asking for this format in Excel right? It can’t be done using the MAC System Preference.

    Its because your data is larger than the current visible cell size.. Increase the cell size using the column headers. A double click on the right margin of the column header fixes this.
